An Underwater Yard in Fort Pierce! Tropical Storm Fay update

Tropical Storm Fay has be relentless with rain. My yard in Fort Pierce is an Underwater Yard in Fort Pierce. This morning the water began to rise. And it is still raining. I only have 4 more inches before it comes into the house. Hopefully we will make it through the night without the water rising into the house. I called the city works office for Fort Pierce today trying to get sandbags for my doors, and the answer machine said the city closed at 12p.m. today. Great no sandbags available. So far I have not lost to much, I have a leaning Goldfinger Banana tree, and just planted those coconut palm trees and bananas, and if you look right in front of the Alexandra Palms in between the 2 banana trees there are only a few branches of my lime tree sticking out of the water. Anyways here are some pictures of the yard today.

  1. Wow! Fort Pierce was on our local news way up here in Pennsylvania. There was a reporter there talking about the wind and rain. Right away I thought of this blog and was waiting for you to post. Even though I don't know you, from reading your blog, I feel a kinship and kept thinking all day - I hope they are all ok. I will send positive thoughts your way that the water doesn't come into the house.
    Stay dry my blogging friend.

  2. I hope the night hasn't brought the flood waters into your house and that you and your family are all safe.

And of course (although it must be way down your list of concerns at the moment) I hope your garden recovers.

  5. Nice pictures. You could always make your own sand bags with garbage bags and if you have any extra dirt laying around. Just put the bags in place in front of your door and add that extra dirt.
