Orchids Mounted on Palm Tree Slabs
I have been growing a variety of orchids on pieces of palm trees that I have collected. I have found that the orchids thrive on the palms. Some have attached themselves in as short as 30 days, and others 90+ days. As of right now the first mounted orchid is growing 2 spikes. This Encyclia tampensis was laying on the ground at my property. An old branch had fallen and I grabbed it before any of the hogs could get them. That was a few months ago. And it is growing like crazy. Already attached to he palm it has lots of new growth and the 2 spikes. And I also have a few others that have some new growths but no spikes yet. 1 is another Encyclia tampensis and the other is an unknown waiting for a flower to ID.

Orchid Show Pictures
On Oct 20 the Fort Pierce Orchid Society show was full of unbelievable orchids. I took lots of pictures and also Scored. I did not have that much money I could spend and needed some supplies so my orchid buying was going to be very limited. They were selling raffle tickets 20 for $5. You had a choose of 16 prizes to drop your ticket into. 1 ticket went into each bucket with a few being doubled up. When the began to call the winning numbers at the end of the day Monique pulled the tickets out and by the 3rd prize my number was called and I won a Blc. Aroma gold "Charngmarg", well 6 more numbers later Monique had another number called. This orchid was a Blc. Bread Beauty 'True Love'. Now the ladies were like yall our so lucky with a sign of pee-turbed-ness under their breath. The funniest part was the 2nd to last prize was another 1 of our numbers, We were so Lucky that day. This orchid was a Bc. Island Charm'O.C.' So the first pictures are of the orchids won from the door prize drawings. And the last ones are random shots from the show.

My New Slipper Orchid
Wow it has been a while since my last post. I have so many new plants to share. The first is this Slipper Orchid! A few weeks ago I attended The Landscape Show sponsored by the Florida Nursery Growers and Landscape Association or simply FNGLA. This was an incredible experience. I am not going to get to into it now, but I did score this from a vender for only $12. It has 2 flowers and 3 new baby plants growing. What a score. This Paphiopedilum's tag reads.... Vintage Harvest (x) Gloriosum x Voodoo Magic.

The Black orchid in Full Bloom! Trichoglottis philippinensis var. brachiata
Trichoglottis philippinensis var. brachiata or Black orchid has reached its full bloom. It is a very beautiful dark purple/maroon color with a lavender/pink fuzzy lip. Thanks to TS Fay I lost 7 blooms from bud blast having to drag all the chids inside for a few days. Here are some pictures.
