Watch my Purple Vanda Bloom!

This progression of pictures of my purple vanda started on 4/20, and reached a full bloom tonight 5/4. I do not know the name of this purple vanda. It has a large flower that is a spotted purple color. This was a $25 vanda from the Heathcote sale a few weeks ago. I have a slide show with pictures in order of the date taken.

Yellow Vanda Rasri x denisoniana

This is a very large Vanda Rasri x denisoniana , that has a medium size flower, but the plant is huge. It also has a new little plant growing off of it. This vanda was in full bloom when it was purchased. It was so hot that day that the blooms began to wilt in the car. This was a Heathcote Sale purchase last week for $25. I wound up buying 3 vandas from this dealer. His plants were very large and healthy and he only was asking $25. I have seen plants this size selling at orchid shows for $45 and more. He also threw in a bottle of fungicides for my chids'. Here are the pics from the first new vanda.

This Weeks Orchid Blooms

Blooms, Blooms, Blooms, the porch as blooms everywhere. That is what tonights post is about. Along with the blooms there are 4 spikes coming in, so more on the way! I have 2 pictures of the plant stands on the porch and a slide show of some of the better pictures of the blooms. There are some nice detailed close ups if you would like to click the picture for a closer look. You must allow pop ups from this site for it to take you to the big picture.

My 1st Rescue has Paid Off!

On Feb. 9, I posted the first picture of this NOID Phalaenopsis orchid. This is the orchid that I saved from the trash on a moving job. Well this morning the last bloom finally opened. Full bloom! Here is a series of pictures that I have taken over this blooming period. The 1st picture was taken on 2/9/08, 2nd 2/27, 3rd 2/29, 4th 3/2, 5th 3/4, 6th 3/12, 7th 3/18, 8th 3/22, 9th 3/24, and the last 2 are from 3/30. Not bad for and orchid that was just being tossed in the trash almost dead.
