On Sunday I was driving down US1 and a guy with a couple trailers of palm trees was on the side of the road. I pulled in and he had an entire trailer full of roebelenii palms or Pygmy Date Palms, a trailer full of majestic palms, and the last trailer was split with coconuts and chinese fans. The man said $6.00 each or 2 for $10 but cash only. So with $30 in my pocket I came home with 4 coconuts palms and 2 of the roebelenii's. The guys on the side of the road are always so cheap. You just have to keep your eyes peeled for them.
Her are a few progression pictures of my first Coconut Palm seedling. The first is from back in Jan when I collected a few coconuts from the beach. The next picture was taken on May 28, and the third picture was taken on July 24. Also over the weekend I was pulling weeds over by 20 coconuts that I have managed to collect now and found my second sprout. This is the last picture. It looks like it had a little problem popping out. So I planted it so it hopefully will correct itself.
