This is the 1st palm for this weeks Heathcote Palms. This Livistona rotundifolia ,or Footstool Palm is a very attractive Livistona, especially when young, due to its large, round, shiny, shallowly divided leaves. Though less cold hardy, the trunk has an intricate woven mat of fibers that eventually shed to reveal red ring scars. As it gets older however, the leaves become more divided, and thus not quite so pretty.
Well being born in a paradise like I was here in South Florida I have always taken all of my tropical plants and palms around me for granted. Just recently realizing how lucky I am. I'm going to take full advantage of this tropical climate. This blog is going to show all of my trials and tribulations with growing different species of plants and trees. Feel free to check back regularly and watch my plants grow.
